I love the lines of the tear drop window B-17s. Elegant. The later models were functional, but looked more brutish.

There's a Bugs Bunny cartoon that featured one of these early B-17s. Not sure which one. That tail is so distinctive. It was perfect for the exaggerated shapes used in those cartoons.

Was it you that posted that just a week or so ago? I enjoyed watching it. But there was another one, which also ended with a dive, but this time, Bugs pulled the air brake and stopped inches from the ground. I'll have to see if I can find it. After I finish my cigar.

Yeah, I posted this one and I remember the one you are talking about. This one is more like a B-18, but you can see B-17s around the airfield.

Found it. It was titled Hair Lift (1952) and was with Yosemite Sam. I can't embed it, so here's a link.

Is that under RAF colors? The roundel doesn't look quite right to me, and in black & white you can't tell the colors of the fin flash. The caption doesn't specify, though it does say the RAF called that the Fortress I.

Probably so. The Type 1 roundel used by the RAF in WWII had a yellow outer circle. That looks pretty close in B&W.

There is a dark spot in the outer ring at around 10:00 that is throwing me off. Maybe it is a window or some other opening in the fuselage?

It must be a window.

Here's a slightly bigger version of the same picture. I'll bet what we are seeing is a square window, which appears black, but part of it is being illuminated by the waist gunner position on the other side of the fuselage.
